“Critical Perspectives: Exploring African Diasporic Communities"

Critical dialogues on local and global possibilities
Organized by the Black Graduate Student Association in collaboration with Interdisciplinary Studies Department of Claremont Graduate University

To be held on April 3rd, 2009, at Claremont Graduate University.

This conference is an opportunity for graduate and advanced undergraduate students to share and listein to research relating to Africa, her inhabitants, and her descendants (including African-Americans, Afro- Latinos, Afro-Arabs, Siddis, Afro-European, African-Caribbeans and Black Canadians)in the African Diaspora. It will provide a space for networking among students, researchers, academics and local and international development professionals.

Conference Features:
*Keynote speeches from prominent academics and practitioners including renowned author and professor Dr. Kumea Shorter-Gooden and Assemblywoman Amina Carter, 62nd District
*Social and networking Continental breakfast and lunch
*Information tables from organizations/ non-profits working in the field
